These guidelines provide essential information for authors preparing and submitting manuscripts to the Journal of Engineering. Adherence to these instructions will facilitate a smooth review and publication process.

1. Types of Articles Accepted

The Journal of Engineering welcomes submissions of Original Research Papers and Review Articles across variety fields of engineering.

For more details on the journal's aim and scope, please see this link: https://www.joe.uobaghdad.edu.iq/index.php/main/Aims-and-Scope

2. Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted exclusively through the Journal's online Submission System. For detailed instructions on using the submission portal, please refer to the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc6wEksMQvs&feature=youtu.be. To submit modifications to an existing submission, please use this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7jh7Mfpnuc.

3. Review Articles Specifics

Authors submitting review articles must ensure their manuscript provides a comprehensive and critical synthesis of existing literature on a specific topic. It should offer new insights, identify gaps in current research, and suggest future directions. Crucially, authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary copyright permissions for any Figures, Tables, data, or other copyrighted material reproduced from other published sources. Proof of such permissions must be submitted alongside the manuscript.

4. Plagiarism Policy

All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism detection using Turnitin software before being sent for peer review. The Journal maintains a strict policy; manuscripts with a plagiarism similarly index and AI percentage exceeding 20% for each will not be considered.

5. Referencing and Citations

Authors are required to cite only credible and academically sound sources. Acceptable sources include research published in international or local journals, scholarly books, academic dissertations, and official reports from recognized scientific centers. Citations from arbitrary internet sites are not permitted.

6. Ethical Considerations

Authors must adhere to the highest ethical standards. This includes:

  • Publication Ethics: The Journal of Engineering adheres to a strict Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement, available for review at https://joe.uobaghdad.edu.iq/index.php/main/Publication-Ethics-and-Publication-Malpractice-Statement.

  • Conflicts of Interest: All authors must disclose any financial, professional, or personal relationships that could be construed as influencing the work presented in the manuscript.

  • Authorship: All listed authors must have made a substantial intellectual contribution to the work and approved the final manuscript.

  • Data Availability: Authors are encouraged to include a statement on data availability within their manuscript, indicating where the data supporting the findings of their research can be found.

7. Required Forms

Before any action is taken by the Journal regarding your submission, authors must formally complete and submit the "Copyright Agreement" and "Declaration" forms. These forms are available for download in the "Download Supplement Section" of our website.

8. Copyright and Licensing

The Journal of Engineering operates under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0 ) license. This license permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. For more information on this license, please visit: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

9. Publication Fees

A review processing fee of 75,000 IQD is applicable for manuscripts up to 20 pages. If your publication exceeds 20 pages, an additional fee of 10,000 IQD will be charged for each extra page. Please note that submission fees are waived for the first manuscript published by foreign authors.

10. Manuscript Revisions and Approval

Authors who receive a decision of "Minor Revision" or "Major Revision" are required to incorporate all revisions requested by referees and resubmit the revised manuscript within a maximum period of 14 days from receiving the review comments. The final, approved copy of the manuscript must be viewed and approved by the corresponding author within a maximum of seven days after incorporating all revisions and before final publication.

11. Withdrawal Policy

Manuscripts may not be withdrawn from the Journal at or after the initial acceptance stage.

12. Declaration of Funded Research

Authors must explicitly declare any national or international organizations that have provided funding for the research presented in their article, especially if such funding directly covers publication fees. Failure to disclose this information, or if a conflict arises with grant authorities due to non-disclosure, will result in the rejection of the manuscript at any stage of the submission, reviewing, or publishing process. If the paper has already been published, the Journal reserves the right to mark the paper as "retracted."

13. Post-Acceptance and Publication Process

Upon acceptance of a manuscript, the corresponding author will be notified. Following acceptance, the manuscript enters the production phase. The corresponding author is responsible for the following:

  • Final Manuscript Preparation: Ensuring that the final version of the manuscript fully conforms to all formatting and style guidelines (Section 15 ) before submission for production.

  • Proof Review: Authors will receive proofs of their manuscript for review. It is crucial that these proofs are carefully checked for any typographical errors or inaccuracies. Only minor corrections are permitted at this stage; no substantial changes to content or structure can be made. Proofs must be returned within the specified timeframe to avoid delays in publication.

  • Approval for Publication: The corresponding author must provide final approval of the manuscript proofs before the article can proceed to online publication.

  • Online Publication: Once approved, the article will be formally published online on the Journal of Engineering website.

14. Required Files for Submission

When making a new submission, authors must upload the following four files:

  • Manuscript with Author Names: Your complete manuscript, including all author names and affiliations, must be submitted in .docx or .doc format. This file must be prepared strictly according to the official Journal Template, which is available for download from the Journal's homepage.
